Function and Luxury vs Footprint

As a single executive, my client was free to have whatever she wanted for her primary bath! Instead of investing in construction to enlarge the space, she asked me to work within the existing footprint and include luxurious elements, such as a color-controlled fireplace, a steam shower—which she uses every day—and an elegant floor faucet for the soaking tub.

I dramatically improved the overall function of the room without adding an inch.

Among the key changes:

  • By eliminating the existing four-person tub with deck, I freed up space for more room to walk around and a bench next to the fireplace, which also houses the steam shower plumbing
  • Enlarged the shower
  • Installed 24 x 24-inch porcelain floor tiles in grey and white faux marble with splashes of gold for warmth, referencing the wood-toned elements
  • Pivoted from blue walls to soft terra cotta, another warm element
  • Instead of just a mirror above the makeup space, I chose a mirrored cabinet, adding more storage
  • Included a convenient shower niche using the same tiles as the floor and ceiling

Sleek and slender hardware is a feminine accent on this double-sink vanity with central makeup station. The recessed panel cabinets are an updated look.
